It seems that the modal is bugged as I cannot set any custom CSS/RGB/hex colors for the header background, accent and general background.
I either get a thin black line or the entire component goes transparent.

Yep, the custom variables for the colors are not being set. Probably just a typo or small mismatch; it should be fixed by the next update.
